Don't Cheat Yourself

Greetings Family!

Thomas Edison once said, “If we all did the things we are capable of, we would astound ourselves.” In essence, are we truly living up to the God-given potential that we should? Too oftentimes, we limit our potential, marginalize our growth, and stagnate our spiritual progression by “cheating ourselves.” What does that really mean? One definition of the word, “cheat,” is to:  Intentionally avoid, evade, or deprive one of something; Wow! What a thought-provoking issue. To think that each one of us has the potential to be great, but instead of striving towards excellence, we settle for mediocrity. We settle for quitting, rather than staying the course and seeing what the end will bring. We cheat ourselves financially by not being obedient to God’s word regarding tithes and offering. Thus, God will not release some of the things that we truly desire because we refuse to follow the path He has instructed. We cheat ourselves by not being accountable for our actions. Therefore, many of our lives are in shambles and disarray because of total imbalance and lack of spiritual structure. We cheat ourselves by allowing negative influences to impact our decisions. When this happens, our direction becomes fuzzy, blurred and confusing. We cheat ourselves each time we tell ourselves that we will “Do it tomorrow, or Will get around to it later!” These are scripted statements that speaks to the core essence of those of us that choose procrastination rather than progression!

But, I have good news for you! You DON’T have to remain this way. Choose today, not tomorrow to make a change in your life. Whatever has held you down, complicated your life or caused a hindrance for you, don’t allow it to cheat you any longer. Take life by the hand…walk with it; walk through it and walk in it! Embrace the challenges of life and meet them head on.

So, what you have had some set-backs! Who cares that your past has been dark, dismal and disappointing. You may have had to start over from “scratch!” Who cares that you can’t afford it right now! The key phrase is: RIGHT NOW!God has greater things in store for you if you would only allow Him to lead and nobody else!! In the Book of Haggai 2:9, the WORD of GOD states, “Your future will be GREATER than your Past!” Be encouraged in knowing that God has you right where He wants you. Now, allow Him to guide and direct you! In other words, “DON’T CHEAT YOURSELF!” Now, think on these things…

Yours in Christ,

Pastor McKnight
