WHY COME TO CHURCH??? |
When you were small, you probably went to church because your parents made you go! As a young child, you most likely did not understand why you were in church instead of outside playing with friends and neighbors. But, you are all grown up now. You SHOULD be coming to church because you are led to be in church. The Bible does, however, provide us with answers to this age old question.
Hebrews 10:24-25 is the scriptual reference. Let's examine these 5 reasons one at a time! |
#1 - It is what Jesus didAlthough Hebrews 10:24-25 are the foundational scriptures for this lesson, it is important that we look at Matthew 9:35 which reads : "And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom". Simular text can be found in Matthew 4:23. There are other biblical reference, but it is important to know that Jesus was in the church teaching and preaching. It was something he did regularly.

#2 - It is a good habitGoing to church and getting fed the word of God on a regular basis makes you feel good inside and out. It is like food for your soul!
#4 - It is important for Fellowship
It is extremely difficult to get to know people in your church and what they have to offer you or what you have to offer them if you are not there. Fellowshipping is one way to learn about Jesus Christ along side of like minded people; people who think like you and have your same thirst for God's word. |
#3 - It is a great Positive ExampleOftentimes you are the only church people see. What better way to encourage others to attend than to be there yourself. It is easier to ask someone to meet you at church if you are there than to tell them about how wonderful your church is and you never attend.
#5 - It is Essential for Growth
Going to church is essential for interpersonal and spiritual growth. Church can help quinch your thirst for Christian knowledge. It can also help you learn how to deal with the challenges that life throws you each and every day. |
